My name is Megha Cherukuri. I am a young artist who specializes in portraits. I love art because it is imaginative, passionate, and inspiring.  When I first started drawing, I wasn’t confident about my self, and I didn’t have the skills I have today. But as my passion met many days of practice, I evolved and am still evolving into an inspiring artist. Apart from my art, I play the piano, and love nature (hiking, swimming, beaches, and sunlight). I also enjoy listening to music, and reading in my free time.

Where My Art Journey Began

It all began when I was about the age of 7 in 3rd grade. I started drawing these portraits of females, no reference, no help, simply imagination and ideas. I drew them in a quite cartoonish manner, not realistic, but not completely animated either. Then I slowly started to try using the internet to find references. After awhile, I decided I was ready for art lessons. It was my passion, sitting there in my room for hours and hours of drawing and coloring. My mom encouraged me to join online art classes starting in Covid; I was nervous at first on how I’d do. But as I began implementing my skill with these three values, pencil, paper and hand eye coordination, I was amazed of my own capability. I drew many portraits, dogs, plants, and sooner family members. My first drawing that my mom realized I had this capability was a depiction of Lord Ganesha, a Hindu God on a special Indian holiday, Vinayaka Chavithi. The week after the holiday, my mom put me in the art academy. That’s when I started producing many amazing artworks, and developing a progressive art journey. I have been drawing since I was 7, and keep drawing and sharpening my skills. As I draw, I aspire to start drawing the human anatomy as well as portraits. Thanks for reading, and I hope you can join me in my continuing art journey!
